Story
Why did you name it Stinky Dip? This is a question we get often and gives us the opportunity to talk about Great Grandma Nettie. Four generations ago, Great Grandma Nettie created the original “Stinky Dip”, which was a staple on the appetizer table at our family get-togethers and holidays. Great Grandma Nettie had a quirky sense of humor and jokingly called it “Stinky Dip” to her Grandchildren and the name stuck! 40 years later, when we began our company, it made sense to honor GG Nettie’s delicious recipe and her offbeat sense of humor and continue calling our product “Stinky Dip”.
GG Nettie sparked my kitchen creativity at age 12 when I began making Stinky Dip to enjoy beyond just holidays. It soon became a party staple, evolving into a spread for hotdogs and hamburgers. Inspired by its success, I took a break from my insurance career in 2022 to launch Stinky Dip officially, responding to demand for its year-round availability. The response was overwhelming at the Puyallup Farmers Market in April 2023, where we quickly sold out and gained a loyal following, dubbed "Garlic Groupies." Now, in 2024, we're stocked in 12 retailers across Pierce and King County, staying true to our roots at local farmers markets. With five flavors and growing, we're grateful for the support as we expand and innovate, one garlic fan at a time.
